RMS assembles and mobilizes teams to travel to areas affected by natural disasters. We work with a local church located in the heart of the disaster area. Disaster Response provides opportunities not only to minister to the physical needs of those affected, but it often gives opportunities to minister the gospel to the spiritual needs as well.

disaster reSPONSE

In the aftermath of a natural disaster, we partner with churches near the disaster to evaluate the needs of those affected and determine how we can best display the compassion of Christ to them. We send teams of volunteers to assist with clean-up and restoration. We have two tool trailers stocked with necessary items as well as a shower trailer that we can deploy to different areas of need. We also provide funds to the local church for distribution to areas of greatest need. View projects below that we are currently raising funds for and or lining up volunteers to go serve.

Hurricane response

Secondary Title

In 2024, two powerful hurricanes, Helene and Milton, struck Florida, causing widespread devastation.

  • Hurricane Helene made landfall on September 26 in Florida’s Big Bend as a Category 4 storm, leading to severe flooding and landslides across Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas, with western North Carolina hit particularly hard.
  • Hurricane Milton struck near Siesta Key on October 9 as a Category 3 storm, bringing further damage to already affected areas. Milton's impact included mass evacuations and over a dozen deadly tornadoes, as well as up to 18 inches of rain in some locations, worsening the flooding.

RMS is responding by raising funds (click to donate) and organizing teams (Sign up) to serve in Western North Carolina this January anytime from the 6th to the 25th..

Northwest Iowa Flooding Relief

In late June of 2024, severe flooding devastated Northwest Iowa, impacting over 1,900 homes, with many completely destroyed. Some areas are still facing power and water outages, adding to the struggle of those affected, including many members from our supporting churches.

RMS's Disaster Response Committee is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve received through volunteer efforts and donations. Your help has been a tremendous blessing to these communities, and we invite you to continue partnering with us through prayer and support for the ongoing relief efforts.
