RMS was first made aware of this work in the summer of 2024 through members of Escondido United Reformed Church who began the project “Reformation Japan”. Reformation Japan’s function is to help NAPARC Missionaries and Churches on the island establish churches and strengthen existing churches affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in Japan (PCJ).

Estimated Cost
To help you plan for the trip, here’s a breakdown of costs:
Trip total (estimated): up to $1,200 USD (airfare to and from Tokyo, NRT, not included)
- Deposit due now: $100 USD to cover RMS administration fees (insurance, background checks, etc.)
- Lodging: about $600 for 11 nights (we are exploring lower-cost options)
- Food and daily expenses: around $500 to cover meals, local transportation (Suica), and incidentals
- Extra funds: for souvenirs or personal purchases
Work Projects
There will be multiple small teams that will be doing a variety of work; the groups will be divided into the following:
Construction: This group will be working at a mission house in Oyumino, Chiba, doing a kitchen remodel, including floors, oven and cabinet installation, and maybe fixing some roof drainage issues. They will also be doing some other work in the area that may include electrical work, drywall, building a jungle gym, and fixing some basketball hoops.
Outreach: This team will be helping local churches with their outreach efforts, which may include hosting communal dinners, English exchange events, mercy ministries, and prayer walks.
Inreach: This team will help Grace City Church with learning more about hosting small groups and Bible studies. This team will also help with training the men of the church in leadership/office bearing. It would be a blessing to have a few men with Leadership, Deacon, or Elder experience on this team.
Packing List
A detailed packing list will be sent out prior to the trip. For your information at this point, there are no special items needed for this trip, only basic necessities.
Accommodations
The teams will be staying in hotels in the respective areas they are working in, and will have typical first world amenities.
Schedule
November 12 will be a travel day, and we will coordinate to arrive in Japan on the 13th.
The daily schedules for while we are there are still developing, but will depend on which team you are in.
