Reformed Mission Services has been actively serving in the Dominican Republic for several years, primarily in and around the city of Sabana Grande de Boya. Our teams have assisted with the construction and repair of local churches, the development of the ministry center, and the renovation of homes for pastors. These projects have strengthened the foundation of local ministry and supported those who labor faithfully in the gospel.

This region has a rich connection to our Reformed heritage, as Dr. Neal Hegeman lived in this city during the 1980s and 1990s. His continued relationships with many of the local pastors have helped us build lasting partnerships and ensure that our efforts meet real and ongoing needs within the church community.

Cost

$850 plus airfare to and from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (RMS will arrange air travel if desired). Your $850 is for the purchase of materials and supplies for the church building projects, food & lodging at the Ministry Center, and ground transportation. This amount does not include your flights to and from Santo Domingo or any incidentals or souvenirs you may want to purchase while there.

Work Projects

We will be helping a local church replace its current roof, made with wooden trusses, with a new concrete roof. This process involves removal of the old roof, modifying the structure of the building, setting forms for the concrete roof, and pouring the concrete roof.

Accommodations

We will be staying at a ministry center in Sabana Grande de Boya. It is dormitory-style housing, each room has electricity, ceiling fans, a bathroom, and a shower. The family of Pierre and Elena Gonzalez will be providing our transportation and meals throughout the trip.

The ministry center also shares property with a Christian school, and we will have access to the basketball court in the evenings.
