Ten years ago, Westside Reformed Church started as a small church plant in Cincinnati’s westside. Having grown and planted two churches, they are now preparing to move into our first building, and it is in the heart of Cincinnati. They are in need of external support to renovate it. RMS has partnered with them to help raise that support!
UPDATE November 2023
Cincinnati's Westside Reformed Church (WRC) announces a property update: At their October 5 council meeting, WRC unanimously decided to demolish the school building instead of pursuing stabilization and renovation. Feedback from contractors, environmental concerns (mold due to water damage and the presence of asbestos), and financial considerations influenced this decision, favoring demolition for cost-effectiveness and immediate redirection of funds towards crucial improvements. This also avoids potential insurance premium increases.
Looking ahead, WRC is on track for ownership in January 2024. The next steps are to repair the steeple and the demolition of the school building. Updates on work team schedules and renovations will follow. WRC appreciates the ongoing financial support and the willingness of those who have contacted RMS regarding trip options. Overview of Financial Needs
Phase 1 – The property is being given to WRC for free, on the condition that they address two main issues: demolishing the school building and repairing the steeple. They will fund these expenses on their own.
Phase 2 – The main building is very dated and needs renovation, e.g., storm windows, a new kitchen, an updated fellowship hall. This is estimated to cost over $300,000 and this is what RMS is seeking to help them raise in 2023.
