Dominican Republic January 2019
January 8 - January 17$1400
RMS is assembling a team of 12-15 volunteers to perform some much-needed maintenance on the Ministry Center Compound and the construction of bathroom facilities located near the worship facilities. We will also assist the local workers in the preparation of installing a cement roof on the San Mateo Church.
The materials needed for these projects are approximately $12,000.00 (USD). We are asking each participant to raise $800.00 (USD) to be used for the materials for construction and maintenance along with $600.00 (USD) for our room and board, ground transportation and an administration fee. This administration fee covers the cost of a t-shirt, background check (for those 18 and older) and international travel liability insurance. The total amount of $1,400.00 (USD) is over and above your travel to and from Santo Domingo Airport (SDQ) and must be sent to:

Dates and Travel
The dates for this trip are January 8-17, 2019 with the 8th and the 17th being the travel days to and from Santo Domingo airport. When booking your flights, please try to plan your arrival times mid to late afternoon on the 8th and your departure times after the noon hour on the 17th.
Scope of Work
We will be making a few improvements on the Ministry Center/School Compound where the group will be staying. As stated above, we will also assist the local workers with the installation of a cement roof on the San Mateo Church building. There is a need for masons, general laborers, as well as someone with general electrical and plumbing experience. The group may be doing some painting around the compound as well. We will have a day of relaxation at the coast in the midst of our working days and worship with the believers on the Lord’s Day.
Food and Housing
The group will be staying at the Ministry Center Compound with Pastor Pierre and his family. The family will be cooking authentic DR foods which consist of meat, rice, and other local fruits and vegetables. Our sleeping accommodations are rustic, camp style rooms with bunk beds and mosquito netting. Shower facilities have “air temperature” water as they do not have hot water for showering. These showers are wonderfully refreshing after a hard day’s work in the heat and humidity.
Age and Health of Participation
This is a multi-generational, opportunity for service, however, due to the accommodations we ask that the participants be 14 years and older. Both male and female volunteers are welcome. The weather in Sabana Grande is hot and humid at times and our sleeping/shower arrangements are minimal, therefore, those with health conditions who may be affected by this environment, should prayerfully consider attending this trip. If you have any questions, please contact our Administrative Director at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There will be more information with further details about the trip, including pre-trip study material on Mission/Evangelism, submitted to you, on occasion, after your registration and as the dates for the trip come closer.
