RMS Board Meeting June 10, 2017
At our recent RMS Board meeting held June 10, 2017, we elected four individuals to serve on the Board from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2020. We praise God for Mr. Dave De Zwaan of Cornerstone URC-Hudsonville, MI, Mr. Joel Kloosterman-Dutton URC, Mr. Clint Van Beek of Cornerstone URC-Sanborn, IA, and Mr. Todd Hilton of Bethany URC-Wyoming, MI. Todd was re-elected to an additional three-year term. Our next RMS Board meeting will take place, Lord willing, the weekend of October 13-15, 2017. This is our face-to-face meeting where we welcome the new board members and discuss the future direction of RMS for the upcoming year. Please be in prayer for the plans that are being made for this important meeting and for discernment as to the Lord’s leading of RMS.
SANTA MARTA, COLUMBIA
Three individuals travelled to Santa Marta and helped the local people with some of the construction for the second floor of the Calvary Reformed Church. The team was also able to bring some supplies for the Fundacion Sembrando Vida (Foundation Sowing Life) children’s ministry. On Saturday, the team visited one of the area reservations where the Indigenous people of the region live. There are a few members of the Calvary church who live and work there as teachers. The Calvary Church is working with the people there through a women’s Bible Study which meets there every other week. The team discovered there needs including materials and volunteers for a men’s Bible study there. There are several Christians who live there and would like to learn more about the reformed faith. Please remember this Church and the ministries in which they serve their community bringing the Gospel to those who so desperately need to hear it. RMS is considering future involvement here next year.
We give thanks to God for the five TASC events that took place this summer across the United States. There were 166 students and sponsors who were a part of these events. The TASC were Burlington URC in Burlington, WA, Bethany URC in Wyoming, MI, Covenant URC in Pantego, NC, Dutton URC in Dutton, MI, and Hudson Valley URC in New Hampton, NY. It is our hope and prayer that the work that was done in each of these places was done to glorify God and that the ministries that were served can continue to spread the love and Gospel of Christ.
We are pleased to announce that we have three churches interested in hosting TASC teams for 2018! Now is the time to begin to plan for next summer’s TASC events! RMS is looking for churches that would be willing to host a TASC event at their church in the summer of 2018. RMS desires to have host churches across the US and Canada to keep transportation costs down for the participants. RMS has developed a detailed manual to assist you in preparing for an event that is available to you per request from our director. You can contact him at email@example.com. If you are interested in or would like more information concerning hosting a God-glorifying week of service and training for high school aged and college aged freshman, please register at www.rms.org/tasc-host- church-application/ or contact Rob at firstname.lastname@example.org.
